The devlog strikes again
Good evening people of the world, here we are again.
This time there's a new build.
*liberation music*
That's right, we've put together a new build after all this time. We took our time, tried to make a lot of things that were wrong right, and by doing that, we also made a lot of things that were right, wrong, much like the scriptures foretold.
Anyway, many mechanics of the game have been scrapped in comparison to the last build. Here is a (probably non-exhaustive) list:
- Characters! Choose one to play as between colourful heroes. There currently are three available, with one more to come soon, and a couple more later on to unlock, ehe.
- No more typing. Typing is... well, niche, and difficult to balance. The typing-based gameplay made the game unapprochable on all counts for many players, so we've decided to part with that system and replace it with something cleverer. Feedback on those big new features is more than welcome. This is very important.
- More stuff. We've said this before: we've continuously been adding new items, monsters, events, and improvements to the world generation.
- Animations. Things move a lot more now. Still not optimally in a couple of places, and that's because animation is hard and also a lot of work but it's a lot livelier now.
- Things for your ears to listen to and think to themselves 'oh that's nice I like not being in utter silence when I'm playing a game'. Following some criticism we received, we elected that indeed, even for a prototype, some audio is always pretty nice. Composer Aleks Ozol has and is providing great tracks as well as sound effects for Bolygó. Go check him out!
- A splash screen. It felt necessary. It wasn't. But it's there now.
- More mimics. We're not sorry
Please do keep in mind that it's still a very alpha build. Alpha as in early and riddled with bugs. A lot of things will go wrong, the game might even crash (if that ever happens, please press F10, screenshot the console and get in touch with us, thanks, love you).
This build is more or less optimised to work decently all throughout the first world. Past that (as in past the massive goblin boss monster) There is little guarantee that things will work. And it'll look a lot less nice overall.
Cool concept art.. or is it game art? but it's not in the game.. hmm
